Char Siu Pork Recipe
I love the simplicity of this recipe. The combination of hoisin, honey, soy and five spice create an authentic-tasting chinese pork, which can be served as part of a meal or used as an ingredient in singapore noodles or special fried rice.
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 15oz / 420g pork loin steaks
- 2 tsp / 10ml honey
- 2 tsp / 10ml hoisin sauce
- 8 tsp / 40ml dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp / 5ml five spice powder
Method
- Cut each steak lengthwise so you have long thin strips. Combine the other ingredients to create a marinade.
- Coat the pork strips in the marinade, place the whole lot in a covered container and refrigerate for a few hours, turning occasionally to ensure even marinating.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C / 400°F / Gas Mark 6. Grill the marinated strips for 15-20 minutes, turning half way through cooking.
- Cut the strips into bitesize pieces. Serve with rice or noodles. Can be used in singapore noodles or special fried rice.
